GSi Gemini - Firmware Update HOW TO PERFORM THE SOFTWARE UPDATE: 1. Copy the file Gemini.upd to the root directory of a FAT formatted USB Thumb Drive 2. Insert the USB memory into the USB port of the Gemini 3. Connect to the Gemini Wi-Fi Editor 4. In the home page of the Gemini Editor, below the "FILES" section, you can read the version information, next to there you have an "update" link, click or tap the "update" label and wait a few seconds. If you get an error message, please double check that you have correctly copied the Gemini.upd file onto the root directory of your USB drive; if you still get an error, please try with a different USB drive. If you get a blank screen, try to refresh the web page and check the version string again, it should be changed. GSi Gemini - Version history Version 1.3 - Nov 2018 - VB3: Improved the keyclick, the cross-talk, introduced the "complex crosstalk on upper manual" - VB3: Improved the Rotary Speaker algorithm and added 7 new parameters - VB3: Modified "OLD" resistor wire set to have a better drawbar balance on the top octave - VB3: Added new resistor wire set that disables the foldback (Spinet style) - VB3: two new parameters in the "Other Settings" group, KeyClick Release and Bounce, that help you to adjust the amount of keyclick that is generated when a key is released and whenever a key "bounce" is detected - Rotary FX: Extended rotation speed and ramp time ranges, and now displayed in actual Hz and Seconds - Slight improvements to the Tine and Reed EP models - Added support for new Wavetable Expansion Install and Uninstall procedures - Fixed problem that could cause a system hang when changing the Global Tuning Version 1.2 - May 2018 - New Electric Baby Grand engine that simulates a full 88-note CP80 piano with a new parameter set (totally replaces the old engine) - New parameter for the Reed E.P. that adjusts the amount of sympathetic resonances - New parameter for the Wah-Wah effect that adjusts the overall filter range - The VB3 engine now supports sustain pedal on all manuals - New refinements to the Rotary effect algorithm with less resonances on the high frequencies, more defined bass response and wider sense of motion; - Improved the MKS piano engine for better attack, better bass response and more balanced decay times - General improvements for all other eletric piano engines - Fixed problem that could cause the LC Display interface to stop responding (standalone versions only) - Web-App editor EDIT ENGINE page now automatically refreshes whenever the engine is changed by a program change - Web-App editor now switches to idle mode when the browser loses focus, thus reducing the battery consumption when accessing from a mobile device - Added INITIALIZE Preset function in the Preset page - Importing presets from the USB Memory is now done using a volatile temporary memory slot - Minor improvements and optimizations over the whole instrument Version 1.16 - July 2017 - New Clavi EP algorithm with better tuning - Improved some of the electric piano engines, particularly the Reed EP and the Electric Grand - The Web-App Editor has been slightly optimized for more speed (however, actual speed always depends on the browser device) - Minor optimizations over the whole instrument Version 1.15 - August 2016 - Added: new Wi-Fi Settings page allows connecting the Gemini to an external Access Point (please refer to the PDF docs!) - Added: the "Import Bank" function can now pick a bank file from a list of files, so you can rename your bank files and keep an archive of multiple banks - Changed: the Wi-Fi Reset button now operates a "soft reset" - Fixed: adjusting the "Leakage" parameter of the Combo V or the Combo F engine would cause the whole engine to reset to its default values - Fixed: Tine and Reed electric piano models could cause some unexpectedly loud pedal noise - Minor optimizations here and there Version 1.14 - June 2016 - Combo organ F & V engines completely redesigned, added multi-contact keyboard simulation with adjustable keyclick, tunable master oscillators (2x12 new parameters), adjustable rate and speed for the vibrato (2 new parameters), bakground hum and noise and simulated oscillator leakage - Added percussion effect to the Combo type F (two new parameters) and the whole Multi-tone Booster section (6 new parameters) - Added one parameter to the Delay/Echo effect that switches between Analog Echo (default) and Digital Delay. This new mode (digital) completely bypasses the filter and the overdrive in the feedback chain and eliminates the smoothing of delay time changes - Modified the Volume parameter curve: when volume is at value 64 it is now at half the dynamic range Version 1.13 - May 2016 - Added one new parameter to the String Machine: Brilliance, adds more brightness to the sound - Improved the Combo Organ V, sounds brighter and even more true to the original - Fixed problem that could cause an unexpected behavior when the global tuning was different than A=440Hz Version 1.12 - May 2016 - Added one new parameter to VB3-II: Generator Shape offers 6 more variations to the generator scalings, obtaining up to 22x7= 154 different generators - Changed VB3-II parameter XTalk Brilliance to XTalk Shape: blends between the low-pitched (rumble) and the high-pitched (brilliance) crosstalk tones - Added one new parameter to Reed E.P.: Release Time, slightly adjusts the release time at note-off - Improved the way the release noises interact with the keyboard for both the Tine and the Reed E.P. - Fixed problem with Wi-Fi password that couldn't be changed Version 1.11 - April 2016 - Fixed problem with GVA-1 Sub-oscillator - Added section "ModWheel LFO" to GVA-1 with 4 new parameters, a 3rd LFO dedicated to the Modulation Wheel Version 1.1 - March 2016 - Added support for Class-compliant USB-MIDI devices through the SYSTEM USB port. Also supports "hot-swap". - Added parameter "Pedal Noise Level" to both the Tine and Reed EP engines. - Added parameters "Release Sample Level" and "Pedal Sample Level" to GSP-01. - Added parameter "Bite and bark" to the PM Tine Piano that adjusts the "bite" of the virtual tines. - Added parameter "Set Timbre" to the PM Trumpet that lets you choose two flavors between Warm and Shrill. - Added global options "Preset Volume" to both DSPs that allow ignoring the volume parameter when loading a new preset. BEWARE: because of the addition of new global options, your MIDI Map might be reset to default values after installing this update! - Added Import/Export of single presets to/from the external USB Drive. - Dynamic response of Tine, Reed and PM Piano has been improved and extended. - Improved the PM Piano synthesis with better dynamic response and key-tracked envelopes. - Clavi EP has been better tuned. - Reduced a bit the loudness of Phaser and Chorus effects. - CC #1 no longer controls rotary fx speeds by default (please update your MIDI map, if necessary). - Delay tail is cut when a new preset is recalled. - The active preset number is now properly reported for both DSP1 and DSP2 in the editor web-app. - Fixed problem in managing rotary fx speeds. - Fixed a connectivity problem with some Wi-Fi devices. - The Wi-Fi SSID has been changed from GSiDSP-xxxxxxxx to Gemini-xxxxxxxx (where xxxxxxxx is a serail number unique to each unit). - The Web-App can now also be opened by typing the URL "http://Gemini/" into the browser address bar (mind the final slash! Might not work with all browsers). Version 1.0 - August 2015 - First public release
