VENICE GRAND BREEZE
This free wavetable expansion for the GSi Gemini features the sampling of a
Petrof P-173 "Breeze", a very nice grand piano built by
Petrof in the Czech Republic.
We borrowed this piano in spring 2021 by our piano partner in Italy, the music shop
Bettin located in Padova,
because we needed a small piano to test our auto-sampling robot. We actually did not choose this exact model, we just wanted a decent piano for our testing,
but, to our surprise, this piano was so fascinating, detailed, precise, and had this brilliant yet sweet sound that, once we got our robot set up properly,
we decided to repeat some extra sampling sessions to have our samples done at production level quality.
The result is a multi-sample consisting in 182 high quality stereo samples spread over 3 to 5 velocity layers for a total of 369 MB worth of Petrof sound.
Once loaded into the Gemini, the GSP-01 sample playback engine adds a layer of physically modeled resonances that enrich the sound
by adding the missing interactions between notes that naturally happen when playing a piano but can't be reproduced just with samples.
